Winter is officially upon us and there is lots to do! It may be colder and icer outside, but we're here to tell you how to enjoy the frosty weather this season while following government rules!

1. Winter activities

It doesn't snow all year, so enjoy when it does! Take advantage of the weather by participating in your favourite activities. There's "snow" better time than the present to build a snowman, go sledding, or make snow angels. Make sure to bundle up with your hat, gloves, scarf, and snow pants if you plan to trek into the brisk outdoors. Festive tip: leaving your tree up until the end of January will help cure your winter blues and keep the holiday spirit alive…even for a little longer!

2. DIY hot chocolate

There is nothing like sipping on a hot drink after a cold day! Imagine coming inside to a warm fire while your hands defrost around a mug of homemade hot chocolate… sounds divine! You can try a traditional recipe or opt for something unique. Put your own creative spin by adding different spices or toppings like cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, marshmallows, candy cane or Nutella. Check out Food Network's basic hot chocolate recipe and add your favourite toppings!

3. Winter wonderland

Now is the perfect time to grab your camera and take pictures of the beautiful winter scenery. Who doesn't miss walking down a snowy path and seeing white fluffy snow sitting on the trees? If you go at night, you might catch twinkling lights in the sky—talk about a magical winter night! If you plan to walk with family or friends, be sure to stay safe, wear a mask, and dress warm.

4. Winter cooking

Bring winterlicious to your home by making soups, stews, or chilis! Not only will these meals keep you warm, but they are sure to be rich with flavours and will keep you full for the entire day. Try making French onion, butternut squash, lentil, or chicken noodle soup this season!
